After his studies in Political Science in Heidelberg, Eisenhauer worked as an assistant and scientific collaborator of the Minister of Finance in Bonn. At the end of 1979 Eisenhauer changed proffesion by first becoming dramatic adviser, then producer for television programmes in Berlin and in 1983 scriptwriter and producer for television series and factual programmes for Studio Hamburg Atelier GmbH. In 1985 Eisenhauer became an Editor for press and public relations and producer at the Second German Television (ZDF) and the German-speaking cultural channel 3 Sat. In November 1987 He became Head of the Berlin Film Fund at the Berlin Government, where he was also responsible for the foundation of the European Film Academy. In 1991 Eisenhauer became the Deputy Programme Director of ARTE and Head of the Theme Evenings, Coordinating about 2000 Theme Evenings, including Co-productions with international broadcasters such as TVE, TVP, ORF, SRG, YLE, RTBF, TELEPIU, SVT, WGBH, BBC, NPS. Since January 2005, Eisenhauer has filled the position of Head of Thema in ZDF/Arte
