Second Seminar – October 31st – November 5th 2012, Marrakech, Morocco
17 filmmakers coming from the Algeria, Israel, Palestine Morocco and Tunisia participated in the Greenhouse second seminar which took place in Marrakech, Morocco.
Greenhouse's second seminar dealt with two main aspects of the projects' development: the written proposals (synopses, director's statement, treatment and budget) and further examining and discussing trailers & visual materials the filmmakers brought to the seminar in preparation for the third & final seminar.
The filmmakers and their mentors: John Appel, Bruni Burres, Nenad Puhovski & Steven Seidenberg had intensive five days work, they analyze the progress each filmmaker did in between the two seminars and continued working and completing the synopses, director statements, treatments and budgets. They watched trailers and visual materials in preparation for the final seminar scheduled to January 8th – 14th 2013.
Lectures on the comprehensive written proposals and financing documentaries in the international market were given by Hans Robert Eisenhauer, Greenhouse's special expert.
Another lecture on storytelling in documentaries and different styles and attitudes towards the subjects was given by Yair Lev Greenhouse's head of studies.
On its fourth day there was a master class given by the acclaimed Russian director Victor Kassakovsky preceded by screenings of two of his films: "Belovy" and 'Vivan Las Antipodas". In his breathtaking master class Kassakovsky mainly did a special screening of the latter accompanied by his comments and reflections on the process of making the film.
On the final day of the seminar, the filmmakers presented their projects in a pitching simulation. During this session,
the filmmakers received feedback from the GH team, mentors and experts.
At the end of the seminar each filmmaker received an individual assignment in which they will have to complete in the next two months before the final seminar, the filmmakers will work on their assignments, while getting constant feedback from their mentors and Greenhouse team
