Synopsis: At the age of 29 I decide to leave Israel and move to Germany, the land I was brought up to never set foot on.
In Berlin, my very own “Looking-Glass Land”, I try to take on the official history from its flip-side, but instead am allured into the investigation of a personal, unspoken family mystery.

Bit by bit the strange story of Peter Schwarz is revealed: A religion-less German communist, who was also Feiv'ke Schwarz, an Eastern European Jew, murdered in the Holocaust – and my grandmother's lost, beloved brother.

Feiv'ke turned into Peter, a man who chose to live in the camp where he had been a prisoner, who married a German woman and who lived with his former concentration camp guards. Now I find myself lost in the gap between these two stories, forced to question my own choice to live among the descendants of my grandmother's victimizers.

The Film received support from:

  • 50,000 Euro production Grant from the German Foundation Filmstiftung NRW
  • 55,000 grants from the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM).
