Born in the north of Holland Bert Janssens was raised in Rotterdam.
After finishing his studies in Hispanic Language and Literature and
Mass Communication he has since 1976 worked in different fields
within culture, production and broadcasting.
He was a freelance producer and programmemaker for VARA Radio and Television. From 1985 to 1992 he was artistic leader of Theatre De Balie, the Amsterdam Centre for Politics and Culture. From 1992-1998 he worked for RO-Theater, the municipal theatre company of Rotterdam, being responsible for the development of repertoire, city-projects, radio- and tv-drama.
Since 1998 he has been head of programmes at Human, one of the smaller organizations in Dutch public broadcasting.
He is responsible for the development and realization, as well as international co-production, of documentary, drama, current, affairs and multimedia-projects.
From October 2004 he is also general manager of Human.
