Greenhouse' first seminar focused on the filmmakers declaration of intentions and the projects synopses. From the very first meeting between the filmmakers and their personal mentors up to the last conclusive gathering which followed the first projects presentations, these two elements were reexamined in depth and broadened while concentrating on dramatic narrative and the main characters.

The filmmakers participated in a master class by the prominent Russian director Victor Kossakovsky. Kossakovsky surprised the attendants by showing scenes from his latest film "Antipods" still being shot around the world and by discussing in depth his unique filmmaking ideology and strategies, his use of locations, photography technique and attitude towards characters. His highly emotional master class included also excerpts from his former films. Following the master class and his meeting with the GH participants and their projects Kossakovsky participated in the group's projects presentations, contributing useful comments.

In addition, the participants were given a lecture by GH Head of Studies Yair Lev titled: "Project's References". In the lecture Lev presented the connection and similarity between Greenhouse' projects to outstanding films which successfully dealt with the same topics, questions and narrative dilemmas, both ethical and stylistic.
In preparation for the next seminar, another lecture "The Trailer & the Written Proposal" was given by GH mentor Steven Seidenberg. In his lecture Seidenberg explained how to submit a well written proposal from Title to synopses and statement bearing in mind the commissioning editor the proposals are aiming to. He also talked about the significant importance of trailers and the right way to create a good trailer which supports the filmmakers pitching.
