The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC)

The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC), located in Pleasantville, New York, is a nonprofit art house theater dedicated to presenting the best of independent, documentary, and world cinema – the largest institution of its kind in the country with a dual mission encompassing film and media education.

Since 2013, JBFC has awarded a one month residency to two to four Greenhouse filmmakers in conjunction with an annual series of completed films by Greenhouse alumni. The only residency of its kind for Greenhouse filmmakers in the United States, the JBFC provides awardees with access to equipment and post-production facilities in our state-of-the-art Media Arts Lab. We also conduct a public exhibition of Greenhouse filmmakers’ works in progress, including Q&A and feedback sessions, as well as opportunities for networking and leading educational discussions. JBFC mentors provide professional support to Greenhouse filmmakers before, during, and after their residency, and serve on Greenhouse pitching forums. This important partnership with Greenhouse is part of JBFC’s Middle East Bridges, an initiative to elevate perse voices and combat prejudice through the power of film, community engagement, and dialogue.
